Global Contract Services (Macro-Distribution) Senior Negotiator
Join us as a senior Global Contract Services (Macro-Distribution) Senior Negotiator at Barclays where you will perform negotiations of Master Trading Netting Agreements (with a specific focus on the ISDA derivatives space) with the Bank’s counterparties, directly contributing to the Bank’s efficient use of capital. While the role will entail a specific focus on Barclays’ client base located in EMEA, the successful candidate may be called to service all coverage areas across Barclays’ targeted client base globally.
This is a permanent, full‑time role based in London.
Key Skills Required
- Strong financial services experience, in legal or as a negotiator.
- Sound knowledge of the ISDA documentation suite, with experience in other master agreements desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work and manage a portfolio independently with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Understanding of end‑to‑end cycle times and importance of MI and data capture.
- Capacity to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities, particularly in the context of project work.
- Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Highly Valued Skills
- Qualified lawyer in Scotland, England & Wales or other jurisdiction.
Purpose of the Role
To oversee and manage transactional processes, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate documentation for financial transactions.
Accountabilities
- Ensure that Transaction Services and Documentation activities comply with applicable laws and regulations, and help the bank manage legal and reputational risks.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal counsel, credit risk management, and other departments, to ensure transactions are executed timely and efficiently.
- Create, review, negotiate and manage legal documents such as loan agreements, security documents, and other transactional documents.
- Provide transaction support, including preparation of transaction summaries, conducting due diligence, and supporting other departments as needed.
- Develop and implement transaction processes and procedures to ensure consistency.
- Proactively identify, communicate and provide legal advice on applicable laws, rules and regulations (LRRs); stay updated on changes and ensure they are reflected in policies, standards and controls.
- Contribute to strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change; plan resources, budgets, and policies; deliver continuous improvements and address breaches of policies or procedures.
- When managing a team, define jobs and responsibilities, plan departmental needs, counsel employees on performance, contribute to pay decisions, and lead specialists to align with strategic priorities while balancing short‑ and long‑term goals.
- If the role is an individual contributor, serve as a subject‑matter expert, guide technical direction, lead collaborative assignments, coach less experienced specialists, and provide information affecting long‑term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions.
- Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on areas of impact and alignment.
