About The Role

Permanent position following 6‑month probation. Archaeological Research Services Ltd is recruiting a Geoarchaeologist/Senior Geoarchaeologist to join our Specialist Services team. Applications are invited for a professional, highly motivated and capable Geoarchaeologist who is well‑organised, detail‑oriented, with excellent writing skills and strong sediment logging, monolith sampling, and interpretation skills. Proficiency in producing reports, using IT, undertaking geomorphic mapping and, ideally, creating deposit models is required. Experience using state‑of‑the‑art equipment for Advanced Sediment Profiling (pOSL, Gamma Spectrometer, pXRF, magnetic susceptibility instrumentation, and sedaDNA sampling) is highly valued. The post is based at our Bakewell offices and Sheffield environmental unit, with travel for meetings, site visits and training as appropriate. Remote‑working arrangements may be discussed. Responsibilities include contributing to commercial and research‑based archaeological projects and delivering work to deadline. Additional specialisms such as plant macrofossils, wood identifications or pollen are welcomed. Knowledge of British archaeology is helpful, as is the ability to contextualise geoarchaeological data and sites regionally and nationally.
