As a Functional Assessor, you’ll conduct assessments and produce fair, evidence‑based reports for individuals applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), as part of the DWP’s Health Assessment and Advisory Service (HAAS).

Please note: We are currently hiring for our 30th March 2026 cohort, as all positions for the January intake have now been filled.

Position

Salary: £40,000.00

Type: Permanent (Hybrid role)

Full time: 40 hours (Mon - Fri from 8:30am - 5pm)

Location: Great Yarmouth. (You MUST be located within a 90‑minute radius of the site to be considered for this role)

As a Functional Assessor, you will play a crucial role in interviewing claimants to understand the challenges they face. You will carry out detailed assessments through telephone, video, or face‑to‑face appointments to understand how a claimant’s disability, condition, or illness affects their ability to carry out everyday activities in a respectful, fair, and reassuring manner.

Responsibilities

With proven experience of working within a medical background you will:

  • Analyse information critically to create accurate and concise reports.
  • Interpret clinical information and evidence.
  • Maintain professional standards in written communication and adherence to code of conduct.
  • Provide positive experiences for claimants and colleagues, meeting quality and productivity targets.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a qualified healthcare professional (listed below)
  • An ability to demonstrate a broad clinical knowledge.
  • Previous experience in using computer software including Microsoft Office.
Essentials Qualifications (without These Your Application Cannot Be Considered)
  • Nurses: Qualified Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD only) – Member of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN)
  • Physios/OTs: Qualified Chartered Physiotherapist or Qualified Occupational Therapist – Member of the UK Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) or College of OT’s (COT)
  • Paramedics: BSc or Qualified Paramedic – Member of the UK Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
