A community-focused event organization is looking for a Freelance Bid Writer to assist with an Arts Council Project Grant application for the Camberwell Carnival. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of writing successful grant applications, capable of articulating both creative visions and sustainable community impacts. This role allows for remote work with occasional meetings in South London. The application deadline is February 28, 2026, so immediate availability is needed.
Camberwell Carnival, a Community Interest Company, is seeking an experienced Bid Writer to support an application to Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grants (£30,000 and under), ideally before 28th February 2026, as the event is set to take place on 22nd August 2026.
This bid will focus on Camberwell Carnival, a vibrant new community celebration inspired by the legacy of Notting Hill Carnival but with a distinctly South East London flavour. The event will bring together music, food, dance, and local creativity, all underpinned by a commitment to sustainability and community ownership.
Location: Remote / flexible (occasional in-person meetings in South London)
Application deadline: 28th February 2026 (assuming a 12 week application turnaround)
We're looking for someone who:
Has a strong track record of writing successful Arts Council Project Grants applications.
Can help shape a compelling narrative that highlights both the creative vision and the project's sustainable approach.
Key responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Camberwell Carnival team to develop and write the Project Grants application.
Articulate the creative vision, aims, outcomes, and community impact of Camberwell Carnival.
Guide the team on how to structure budgets and timelines to meet Arts Council England requirements
