A leading highways service provider in the UK is seeking a Flood Risk Officer to manage flood risk from surface water and groundwater. The role includes providing technical advice, assisting with planning applications, and collaborating with key partners like the Environment Agency. Working as part of an established team, the Flood Risk Officer will support the Flood Risk Management team in delivering and communicating the Council’s statutory duties under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, the Land Drainage Act 1991, and the Town and Country Planning Order 2015. The role sits within the Council’s Highway Service, acting in its capacity as the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA).
The postholder will manage a varied and challenging workload, including assessing and managing flood risk from surface water, groundwater, and ordinary watercourses. The role also involves responding to both major and minor planning applications, processing pre‑application enquiries, supporting Local Planning Authorities during plan‑making, and assisting the Senior Flood Risk Engineer with the consenting and enforcement of Land Drainage Consent applications.
