The Opportunity

Looking for a hands-on role where you can work at one of the UK's biggest hard rock quarries, working across multiple key areas.

We’re looking for a De Watering Operative to join the team at Bardon Hill Super Quarry,a site like no other. As one of only three super quarries in the UK, Bardon is at the heart of our operations, supplying high-quality aggregates that help build everything from motorways to major infrastructure.

If you’re up for working with heavy kit, keen to learn, and thrive in a dynamic, team-driven environment, this is your chance to go big.

What Makes This Role Epic?
  • Scale and variety – Get stuck in across the site, from the primary crusher to the wash plant and even in the control rooms.

  • Big plant, big impact – Contributing to 4.2 million tonnes of hard rock extraction per year.

  • Learn and grow – Training, support, and loads of development opportunities—we’ll help you get certified and upskill fast.

  • Global reach, local team – Be part of Holcim, a global business with local heart and values.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Rotating across multiple areas of the production and quarry environment.

  • Responsible for keeping the quarry water free, you'll be maintaining pumps and pipes across the site. You'll be also repsonsible for all of the water tanker operations on site, this inlcudes general site cleaning (drains, gulleys and pits).

  • Carrying out safety checks, reporting defects, and keeping the site tidy and hazard-free.

  • Supporting production, ensuring smooth and efficient operations across all plant areas.

  • Working closely with site managers and teammates to meet daily targets.

  • Following site rules, safety protocols, and environmental guidelines to the letter.

What You’ll Bring:
  • Motivation, drive, and a positive attitude—we can train the rest!

  • Any previous pumping/ tanker experience would be advantagous.

  • Great team working and communication skills.

  • Good organisational abilities and a focus on safety.

  • Working on a day shift (05:30 - 15:30)

  • Previous quarry or heavy industry experience is a bonus—but not essential.

We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.
