Finance Manager – Restore Women’s Aid – The Malthouse, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP33 3AA

Hours: 15 hours per week (Permanent)

Salary: £31,537 - £32,597 per annum pro rata

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Principal Operations Manager, you will oversee the smooth running of the charity finance function and periodic reporting to Senior Managers, Treasurer and Board of Trustees.

In conjunction with the board, you will be responsible for the periodic review of the charity’s Finance Policy and Procedures including internal controls and you will ensure proper operation of financial controls including appropriate authorisation of transactions alongside the Treasurer.

  • Regular reconciliation of key balance sheet control accounts (bank/cash, damage deposit, payroll control funds)
  • Review of nominal ledger and Fund/Grantor summaries for accuracy
  • Work with Finance Officer to approve supplier invoices in a regular bi‑monthly cycle
  • Work with Finance Officer to ensure timely and accurate payroll and payroll information provision
  • Monthly reporting to management and board, providing overview of financial position and narrative on key figures and budget variances
  • Prepare financial data for periodic grant applications and reports
  • Provide interim or end‑of‑grant reports as per terms and conditions
  • Generate other periodic and ad‑hoc management information for senior management and the board
  • Prepare annual revenue budgets for management team and Treasurer prior to Board approval
  • Produce annual financial statements in accordance with Charities SORP and liaise with auditors for the annual audit
  • Prepare Gift Aid Claims and submit to HMRC
About You

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrable experience in financial management within the charity or not‑for‑profit sector
  • Good understanding of charity finance regulations, including SORP
  • Excellent skills in financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
  • Track record of managing a small team
  • Proficient with accounting software including payroll and Excel; training will be provided on Data Developments MyFundAccounting Online
  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience working with fundraising or grant‑funded organisations
  • Knowledge of Gift Aid and VAT in a charity context
  • Experience supporting board‑level decision making
  • Some experience of HR matters in a small organisation
