We are seeking a patient and caring Support Worker to assist Julia, born in 2008. Julia lives with her family. She loves getting her hair and nails done, shopping, dining out and taking her dog for a walk. She is also strongly interested in animal care, country music, and writing short stories and poems. She has a great sense of humour.
Julia sustained a brain injury following a car accident and as a result now has limited mobility in her arms, and legs more predominantly felt on her left side. She has reduced balance and co-ordination which puts her at risk of falling, she has a wheelchair but very seldom uses this. Julia can have difficulties with emotional regulation and sometimes finds it difficult to process information so time given to answer questions is required.
Your role as Julia's Support Worker, will be to assist with her morning and evening routines which include; personal care, getting her ready for school and helping her to develop her independence both within the home and local community (whilst maintaining her safety). Supporting with therapies as agreed with her team of therapists and Case Manager. To accompany the family on trips and holidays.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join a dedicated family and develop existing skills and support this very special young lady. A truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.
