Reporting

Reporting to a Professor at the Law School, the Federal Litigation Clinic Fellow provides representation to clients and clinical legal education to students of the Federal Litigation Clinic.

Essential Functions
  • Supervises students in federal criminal and civil cases and collaborates with other supervisors to manage the clinic caseload and represent clinic clients.
  • Attends regularly scheduled team meetings and supervises and conducts all required lawyering activities, including court appearances, jail visits, fact investigations, and other facets of federal litigation.
  • Shares responsibility, under supervision, for designing and teaching seminar sessions with full‑time faculty colleagues.
  • Fulfills administrative and case‑handling responsibilities of the clinic.
  • Participates in a clinical pedagogy seminar and other activities designed to support an interest in clinical teaching and legal education.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
  • Juris Doctor or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post‑J.D. legal experience.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
  • Outstanding analytic, legal research, legal writing, communications and interpersonal skills, as well as familiarity with and commitment to the principles of clinical legal education.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Google and Microsoft office suites, website management and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with federal criminal defense litigation, and related civil litigation at the trial and appellate levels.
Salary

Minimum Starting Salary: $85,000

Maximum Starting Salary: $95,000

Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
