Taking Teaching Further & Additional Incentives

If you’re making the move into further education teaching, you may be eligible for the Taking Teaching Further (TTF) programme a funded route to help industry professionals retrain as FE teachers.

In addition, for roles in high-need subjects or regions you may also benefit from the government’s targeted retention incentive (formerly “levelling‑up premium”) payments, worth up to £6,000 for eligible teachers in their first five years and teaching certain shortage subjects.

Please note eligibility for both TTF and the Targeted Retention Incentive varies by role, subject area and provider, they do not apply to every vacancy.

If you have industry experience in the RAC field and a desire to inspire the next generation of HVAC professionals, we want to hear from you – no teaching qualification needed!

We’re seeking a candidate who is eager to pass on their expertise to Level 3 Apprentices, delivering practical and theoretical lessons on the principles of RAC systems.

While a teaching qualification is ideal, we’re happy to support the successful candidate with training and qualifications as part of your professional development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach both theoretical and practical aspects of RAC systems, including thermodynamics, heat transfer, and system operation.
  • Provide hands‑on training in workshop environments to develop students’ skills in maintenance, repair, and installation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and integrate the latest developments into the curriculum.
  • Assess apprentices’ progress, offer constructive feedback, and provide guidance for their career development.
  • A minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant industry subject.
  • At least two years of industry experience with up‑to‑date knowledge of standard practices.
  • A passion for teaching and helping students achieve their potential.
  • No teaching qualification? No problem! We’re happy to support you with training to gain the necessary teaching qualifications, if needed.
