Environmental Manager/Consents Manager

Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

As part of a growing and agile business, our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Principal/Associate Technical Director with a strong track record of leading the environmental and consenting aspects of projects, with particular experience in winning and delivering work in the Design and Build Sector.

Role Accountabilities
  • Leading on the coordination and delivery of planning / environmental work being undertaken by multi‑disciplinary teams, influencing project development and delivering optimal environmental and planning outcomes – with a strong understanding of the D&B process.
  • Strong business development, create project opportunities and lead delivery of projects to build our portfolio in the D&B sector – while working closely with upstream Environmental and Planning work.
  • Raise awareness of our services, win new opportunities and build new contacts.
  • Actively engage in key client relationships, lead by example creating cross‑selling opportunities for the wider business.
  • Engage with consultees and stakeholders.
  • Manage projects, overseeing our performance on technical, quality, commercial and health & safety.
  • Work closely with existing and established Arcadis colleagues across our global business.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of the environmental and consenting process, from EIA practices and procedures, including case law, and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and technical specialisms.
  • Strong experience of working with contractors and influencing sustainability through design.
  • Experience across a range of project types.
  • Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality.
  • Experience in multi‑disciplinary coordination and leadership of projects, with good project management and technical skills.
  • Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators and stakeholders.
  • Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management and quality assurance.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards.
  • A flexible, pragmatic and collaborative approach to work.
