Enterprise Architect - Secondary Care

Hybrid - 1-2 days onsite per week

Location: London, Salford, or Staines.

As an Enterprise Architect (EA), you will bring a consultant mindset and the agility to thrive in a dynamic environment that blends legacy systems with cutting-edge digital technologies. You will guide and advise our Solution Architects, ensuring alignment and quality across lower-level design implementations. In this role within BGIUK, you will contribute to the ongoing development of our Architecture Community of Practice and help shape architectural standards and practices across the organisation.

How you'll help us make health happen

  • Shape and deliver the technology strategy for Bupa's UK Secondary Care services in collaboration with IT leadership.
  • Maintain and evolve architecture roadmaps for critical systems, ensuring seamless integration across care platforms.
  • Support technical due diligence and integration of new services, with a focus on cloud and API-first solutions.
  • Guide and strengthen solution architecture capabilities within the Secondary Care IT team.
  • Ensure governance, compliance, and alignment with data, security, risk, and legal standards.
  • Contribute to high-quality, pattern-led solution design and resolve technical or regulatory challenges as needed.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • Experienced Enterprise Architect with a strong track record of leading transformation initiatives and engaging CxO-level stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, and design patterns.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to operate end-to-end—from high-level vision to hands-on implementation.
  • Strong consultative and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across complex organisations.
  • Broad knowledge of modern IT software, cloud platforms, and critical infrastructure within distributed systems.
  • Proven ability to evangelise and promote the adoption of new technologies and architectural approaches.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data regulations and interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, and OpenEHR.
  • Background in product-centric, agile environments with experience in DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native architectures.
