Job description

Shiel Buses is looking for an Engineering Administrator to support the day to day running of their engineering department in Fort William.

This is a key role in a well respected family business, keeping the paperwork, processes and flow of information that sits behind the fleet running smoothly.

You will support the MOT and inspection process by logging, checking and filing core paperwork and preparing clear reports for the Engineering Manager.

You will handle calls into the department and be the first point of contact for enquiries, always presenting the company in a friendly, professional manner.

You will monitor stock levels, support ordering of spare parts and ensure the engineering team has what it needs to keep vehicles on the road.

You will keep vehicle files accurate and up to date, including MOTs, COIF certificates, registrations and tachograph calibration bookings.

You will maintain accurate spreadsheets covering vehicle details, expiry dates and other key information used across the department.

You will review paperwork for errors and inconsistencies, preparing any findings for management.

You will ensure all paperwork is correctly filed and that the engineering office remains organised and efficient.

You will work closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure servicing, maintenance and inspections are completed on time and recorded accurately.

You will support managers across the business when required and deputise for the Administrator during periods of absence.

You will be trusted with confidential, business sensitive information and expected to handle it with discretion at all times.

You will bring strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to stay organised through routine work.
