This 10-week program starts in June 2026 and allows university students to apply their learning to real-world projects while gaining exposure to various electronics design skills. You will work alongside experienced engineers and participate in the design and delivery of missile-related projects. This opportunity not only cultivates technical skills but also promotes personal growth in a collaborative environment.
Electronic Engineer - Summer Placement 2026
Join the Electronic Engineering department for a chance to play a fundamental role in bringing together MBDA's missile systems: designing and integrating the electronics that drive our Weapon Control Units, Actuators, Telemetry & Communication Systems and more!
We have a reputation for quality and innovation, and we maintain this by encouraging original ideas, innovative approaches and allowing our Engineers the space to design and produce solutions that meet the challenges.
The MBDA Electronic Engineering Summer Placement scheme is an excellent first step in your early career; whilst in EE, you will work with a range of highly skilled Engineers who want to invest in your development and support you in reaching your technical potential.
Over the course of your 10 week placement you will work with a small team of undergraduate summer placement students to plan, manage, design and deliver a missile related project. How you meet the solution will be down to you and your team members to decide. To help guide you, you will be supported by experienced engineers from multiple engineering fields (Mechanical, Test Systems, Software, etc.). You will also have dedicated mentors to help you both technically and professionally.
The projects provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in one or a number of the following electronics design related skills:
You'll be spending time in the lab, building experimental hardware and in some cases may be writing some software and firmware. You will gain exposure to the schematic design tool we use (Zuken) and will continue to develop your time management and project planning skills. Depending on which project you become involved in, you may also use modelling & simulation tools such as Matlab and Simulink.
You may travel occasionally to visit other MBDA sites, although most of your work will be conducted on site in Stevenage.
