About the Role

Electrical Project Engineer
Full-Time, Permanent
Westhill, Aberdeen - Hybrid working

Operating worldwide, the company is the leading provider of submarine rescue capability and an established provider of submarine escape training. The company is at the forefront of hyperbaric rescue, along with being the leading supplier of commercial and defence diving equipment and saturation diving systems to the commercial industry.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Project Engineer to join JFD. The successful candidate will work with a diverse product line in the commercial and defence diving industry where JFD is a leading technology and service provider.

Some examples of the exciting product areas you will work in are:

  • Commercial Saturation Diving - Electrical control and instrumentation for supporting diving operations. This includes digital diver communications and integrated diver monitoring and bell control systems.
  • Commercial Hyperbaric Systems - Electrical control and instrumentation for monitoring the provision of life support in a hyperbaric environment. This includes high accuracy gas analysis and environmental controls capable of operating at high ambient pressures in a mixed gas environment.
  • Defence Diving - Electronically controlled rebreather and tactical delivery vehicles using advanced battery technology and automation.
  • Defence Submarine Rescue - Electrical control and instrumentation for the NATO submarine rescue system capability provided by JFD under a multi-year service contract.

You will provide engineering design solutions and through life engineering support within the Electrical Controls & Instrumentation team. Your role will vary from supporting new product design to meet client or internal specifications through to supporting legacy systems and the management of obsolescence through upgrades.

Key Accountabilities
  • Support engineering design input to new products and provide support to the existing product range by answering queries and providing engineering solutions
  • Sourcing suitable components and materials when required and create part numbers and bill of materials
  • Creation of engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification, and reports
  • Checking detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation
  • Adherence to engineering and company standards and processes
  • Site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as and when required
  • Compliance to internal and external standards & regulations
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Electrical / Electronic / Manufacturing Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of electrical design and manufacturing of instrumentation systems
  • Experience in 2D /3D drafting (AutoCAD, Solidworks or similar)
  • Preparation and maintenance of comprehensive project documentation including specifications and drawings
  • Ability to co-ordinate with cross functional teams including and design standards mechanical engineers
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques
  • Demonstrated experience in an Electrical Project Engineering role
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management system for generating and storage of engineering packages
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance essential
  • Previous diving or subsea equipment design experience would be advantageous
  • Any relevant diving qualifications would be advantageous
