Job description
Role – Site Engineer - Infrastructure

Location – West Yorkshire

Purpose of the role:

As General Foreman, you will provide setting out/engineering control on site and ensure all required quality assurance checks are completed on our Infrastructure projects on COMAH sites in West Yorkshire.

Galliford Try has supported COMAH sites for over 40 years, providing reactive and planned civil maintenance, facilities management and civil project delivery through some of our longest‑standing client partnership.

What will you be doing:
  • Coordinate site engineering control, setting out, and provide technical information to operatives and subcontractors.
  • Complete site diaries, photographic records, and material reconciliations.

  • Ensure surveying equipment is calibrated and maintain accurate as‑built surveys and drawings.
  • Produce 2D and 3D site sketches to support construction activities.
  • Maintain quality and compliance records in line with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Assist with planning, monitoring, and programming of site works.
  • Support, mentor, and develop junior and graduate engineers.
  • Promote safe working practices, minimise waste, and support continuous improvement and innovation on site.
About you:
  • Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or similar, with site experience.
  • Confident in setting out, surveying, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication skills.
  • Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Relevant professional qualifications including CSCS, Temporary Works, CAT & Genny / Utility Service Coordinator.
