This full-time role requires expertise in international trade compliance, with an emphasis on sanctions and regulatory matters. Candidates should have significant post-qualification experience and the ability to offer commercial legal advice. The role involves advising on compliance risks, supporting commercial deals, and collaborating closely with various teams within an innovative environment. Flexible working options may be available.
At Raspberry Pi, we are proud to foster an environment where those who work with us can do what they love and do it well. By joining Raspberry Pi, you’ll be adding to a lean and passionate team dedicated to democratising technology and providing affordable access to computing tools to people across the globe.
We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Trade and Compliance Lawyer to join our small but highly productive legal team.
As part of the legal team, you will provide invaluable insight and expertise in international trade compliance and sanctions, along with all other regulatory and compliance matters, addressing the diverse array of challenges encountered by a global technology company.
We are looking for someone with a minimum of 8 PQE, preferably with experience working in‑house at a UK‑listed technology company (though this is not essential). We are also looking for someone who loves to work collaboratively and communicate with people across the entire business; the successful candidate will be working closely with the commercial and finance teams in particular. You will be commercial and pragmatic in your outlook, with the ability to take a risk‑based approach when advising the business on legal and commercial risks.
This role is full‑time and reports to the General Counsel based in our office on the Science Park in Cambridge. Part‑time and remote working may also be considered.
As a subject matter expert, you will offer advisory support regarding sanctions and export controls, licensing risks, and compliance with various global sanctions regimes — including those imposed by the UK, EU, UN, and the US — as well as internal group policies. Ideally, you will also have broader experience in areas such as IP, competition law, GDPR, and ABC, along with managing governance policy frameworks.
The role will involve advising on risk management decisions related to suppliers, customers, and transactions with sanctions and regulatory compliance implications, providing expert advice and training, determining appropriate risk controls, and leading regulatory reporting processes for sanctions and other matters within the organisation.
This is not an exhaustive list, as we are a fast‑moving business and new challenges present themselves all the time.
The breadth of our business means that we are always growing and coming up against new challenges, which keeps work interesting. If you are proactive, organised, and technically proficient, with excellent legal professional skills, we would very much like you to apply for this role.
