Co-ordinator: Disability Sport Glasgow (DSG)

Disability Sport Glasgow (DSG) are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to join our team as Co-ordinator. They will co-ordinate and develop a range of physical activity and sport sessions and events for children, young people and adults with physical, learning and sensory disabilities across Glasgow and the West.

Hours: 17 hours per week (Part time, Self-employed)

Duration: Reviewed annually

Based: Hybrid, flexible working

Disability Sport Glasgow Co-ordinator - Job Description

Job Summary

To co-ordinate and develop a range of physical activity and sport sessions and events for children, young people and adults with physical, learning and sensory disabilities in Glasgow and the West.

The local authorities encompassed within the Disability Sport Glasgow are: City of Glasgow, West Dunbartonshire, East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, Argyll & Bute and North Lanarkshire.

The post holder must have a full UK driving license with access to a car and will possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, will be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible to the Disability Sport Glasgow (DSG) Chair and will be required to:

  • Co-ordinate and deliver the DSG events programme and develop physical activity and sport sessions for children, young people and adults with physical, learning and sensory disabilities.
  • Co-ordinate the selection and attendance of Glasgow/West of Scotland teams to compete in SDS National events.
  • Develop, co-ordinate and promote education and development opportunities for Glasgow/West of Scotland coaches and volunteers working with disabled athletes and players.
  • Contribute positively to the DSG strategic development planning processes.
  • To work closely with Trustees to secure sufficient funds for the on-going development of DSG in accordance with OSCR guidelines and procedures.
  • Create, maintain and develop key partnerships.
  • Actively celebrate and promote Glasgow/West of Scotland successes and positive role models in disability sport through DSG.
  • Monitor and evaluate all DSG Programmes.
  • Promote and market DSG programmes and services through website and social media platforms.
  • Represent DSG at related and relevant meetings as required.
General Responsibilities
  • Any other reasonable duties as delegated from time to time that are appropriate to this position
  • Contribute as appropriate to newsletters and other publications.
Management
  • The post will be managed by the DSG Chair. The service provider will meet with the DSG Chair on a regular basis to review progress.
  • DSG Board will review annually the remuneration for the co-ordinator services taking into consideration the retail price index for the preceding 12-months and performance of the appointed co-ordinator.
