JOB PURPOSE

As an Operations Excellence Engineer, you will play a central role in deploying and embedding a new group manufacturing system across Amcor’s Rigid Packaging division, supporting a large‑scale Lean transformation at group level.

The position sits within the Rigid Division of Amcor and reports to the Rigid Quality & CI Director. You will work in close partnership with plant leadership teams, department managers, and shop‑floor teams across multiple European countries, acting as a hands‑on coach and structured change agent.

This role offers a rare opportunity to drive a large‑scale Lean transformation across a complex, multisite European manufacturing network, working at the intersection of strategy and shop‑floor execution. You will influence how 10–15 plants operate every day, collaborate with diverse leadership teams across countries and cultures, and play a decisive role in rolling out a common manufacturing system that will shape operational standards across the Rigid Packaging division.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Deploy the new group manufacturing system (Level 2) across 10 to 15 sites:

  • Lead preparation, deployment, and stabilization activities across the plants
  • Ensure consistency and sustainability of the new manufacturing system practices across plants.

Train and coach teams at all levels of the organization:

  • Teach Lean and manufacturing system tools to plant leadership, department managers, and shop‑floor teams.
  • Act as a hands‑on coach to reinforce structured problem‑solving, standard work, and daily management routines.

Drive change and adoption of continuous improvement ways of working:

  • Support sites with low CI maturity and guide teams through behavioral and operational change.
  • Address resistance to change through structured engagement and pragmatic change management.

Enable alignment and knowledge sharing across the plant network:

  • Capture and share best practices, lessons learned, and standards across sites.
  • Provide clear progress updates to Quality, CI, and Operations stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong hands‑on experience in Lean and Continuous Improvement: advanced knowledge of Lean tools and methodologies.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt experience strongly preferred.
  • Solid change management capability, including experience deploying CI tools in low‑maturity environments.
  • Strong experience in a manufacturing site production environment, with a deep understanding of shop‑floor operations.
  • Fluency in English mandatory.
  • Professional to fluent French or German strongly recommended.
  • Proven ability to teach, coach, and influence teams from plant management to shop‑floor level.
