Gallery Technician

£27,000 per annum (plus bonus)

If you are keen to play a pivotal role in creating a visual superior gallery experience, we can offer you a role that will develop your potential.

As our Gallery Technician, you’ll be based at our prestigious Mailbox Gallery in the heart of Birmingham. You’ll be primarily responsible for setting up new artist releases including Billy Connolly, Bob Dylan, Boy George, and Johnny Depp to name a few, gallery events and exhibitions throughout the year, and also supporting the gallery team during peak times. If you’re looking to be instrumental in the creation of the visual layouts of our exceptional artworks, as well as ensuring a positive experience for our clients, both new and existing, you might just be who we’re looking for.

You’ll be a proactive individual, with excellent organisational skills and a drive to maintain our high standards and support the team with gallery operations on a regular basis. This role is a full-time position, working 5 days out of 7 (including weekends).

What The Gallery Technician Role Includes:
  • Manage the stockroom efficiently, ensuring all artwork is clearly labelled, well organised, and easy to locate
  • Handle and store artwork correctly to minimise the risk of damage, using appropriate wrapping and storage methods
  • Process all gallery deliveries accurately and in line with established stockroom procedures
  • Take the lead on the re-hanging of artwork as required, including printing and displaying price tags and artist biographies
  • Assist with artwork installations, client viewings, and home consultations
  • Support the planning and delivery of artist appearances, exhibitions, and other gallery events throughout the year
  • Provide after-sales follow-up with clients and gather feedback on client satisfaction
  • Carry out the physical aspects of the role on a daily basis, including handling and moving artwork

  • Highly organised and efficient, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Confident, professional, and well presented, with a strong understanding of exceptional customer service
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence interacting with clients on a regular basis
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively both in person and by phone
  • Strong attention to detail and a solid work ethic
  • Highly motivated, with a proven ability to work towards and achieve set targets
  • A Full, valid driving licence is desirable (required for home consultation visits)
