Job description

HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Location

Based at Fort Dunlop – this location sits on the eastern edge of Birmingham, adjacent to the M6 motorway, providing excellent transport links into the city and across the region. Fort Dunlop serves as a key hub within IPT Area North, supporting operations that span multiple sublots and regional activities. Its strategic position makes it an important point for coordination and access, with proximity to major infrastructure routes ensuring connectivity to both the Central Region and wider project areas.

Role Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update the BBVJV Equipment Register, Equipment Disposal Tracker, and support balance sheet processes, including clearing balances and assisting the BB Newcastle team.
  • Complete monthly cashflow consolidation, actualisation, and preparation/submission of the monthly Application for Payment (AfP) and invoices in CEMAR.
  • Review, challenge, and improve existing financial and administrative processes, including updates to Finance & Admin Plan, DLA, and Treasury Policy.
  • Provide support across the Finance Team, including ad‑hoc duties for senior finance leaders and guidance to graduates/apprentices.
  • Manage daily cash activities such as payment runs, cash movement updates, identification of payment risks, and support for monthly cashflow forecasting and other cash‑related tasks.
  • Strong technical understanding of accounting routines and procedures, with the ability to manage complex data accurately and with high attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including at least intermediate‑level Excel skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to build effective working relationships under time pressure.
  • Desirable experience includes construction‑related accounting and familiarity with Oracle systems.
