Qualifications

  • Experience in preparing year-end accounts.
  • Relevant accountancy practice experience.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare year-end accounts for various business types.
  • Prepare management accounts.
  • Complete corporate and personal tax returns.
  • Deliver excellent client service.
  • Engage in audit work as needed.

Skills

Minimum 2 years’ experience within an accountancy practice
Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
Great attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Pro‑active and positive attitude

Education

AAT qualified
Job description

Hours – Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Holiday – 28 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holiday allowance, to be booked when you like). Allowance increases by one day per each year of service following 5 years’ service (up to a maximum of 33 days)

About the Accounts Assistant role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join the team in our Plymouth office.

We are looking for candidates with previous accountancy practice experience to support a range of accounts, tax and audit processes. In return we can offer study support for the ACA qualification or AAT if not yet qualified.

Key responsibilities of an Accounts Assistant
  • Preparing year end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, sole-traders and LLP’s
  • Preparing management accounts
  • Corporate tax returns
  • Personal tax returns
  • VAT returns
  • Delivering excelling client service
  • Working closely with clients, other members of the accounts team and other departments, including direct contact with the Partners, managers and clients in order to obtain the required information to prepare their accounts
  • Involvement in audit work as and when required
About you

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within an accountancy practice
  • Ideally AAT qualified
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
  • Great attention to detail along with strong organisational skills
  • Pro‑active and positive attitude
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – written and verbal
  • Be able to confidently work alone but also be a team player
