Job Description
Journalist/PR Writer — Hybrid – some travel across North West and Scotland required — £28-£32.5k doe We’re looking for a top notch writer who understands how stories drive reputation, visibility and commercial results. This role is about producing clear, credible content that gets published and gets noticed. You’ll be writing press releases, thought-leadership pieces, blogs, newsletters and case studies for a wide mix of clients. You’ll take complex or technical information and turn it into content that makes sense, sounds human and works in the real world. You’ll work closely with account managers and clients, interview subject experts, adapt content for different audiences, distribute it through the right channels, and track what lands where. In short: you’ll take information and turn it into content that works. This is a practical agency role. You’ll be expected to write well, hit deadlines, understand regional and national media, and take responsibility for the quality of what goes out under the 32West name.
What you’ll be doing
- Producing press releases to a standard suitable for immediate distribution
- Writing thought-leadership articles and opinion pieces based on agreed subject matter
- Regionalising content for different geographic audiences
- Producing newsletters and e-shot content for clients
- Writing website content and blogs, applying SEO best practice
- Interviewing clients and stakeholders for press releases, features and case studies
- Producing clear, well-structured client case studies
- Sourcing images for use within content packages
- Preparing supplied imagery, including basic editing, captions and quality checks
- Uploading content to the 32West website with SEO optimisation
- Adapting published content for client websites and social media
- Uploading blogs and content to client websites
- Creating and maintaining media contact lists
- Distributing content via our in-house platform and direct media outreach
- Following up with journalists and building professional relationships
- Monitoring coverage and maintaining up-to-date performance reports
- Producing quarterly coverage reports using agreed templates
What we’re looking for
You will be a time-served journalist or have demonstrable experience in content creation in the PR sector. Your key skills will include:
- Strong written English and a sharp eye for detail
- Ability to turn complex or technical information into clear, engaging content
- Confidence interviewing people and shaping insight into publishable material
- Understanding of PR, media relations and digital content
- Working knowledge of SEO
- Organised, reliable and comfortable managing multiple deadlines
- Agency experience helpful, but not essential
