A not-for-profit education organization in the United Kingdom is seeking an Executive Principal to oversee multiple campuses. The BUSY School is part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation presenting over 47 years as a community partner providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, NDIS, disability employment support, and allied health services.
The BUSY School is an independent Special Assistance School with 10 campuses across Cairns, Brisbane, Gold Coast/Coolangatta and New Zealand, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.
Each campus provides a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with an education program that includes vocational education and training (VET), work experience and opportunities for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships. Our team support the students to gain employability and transferability skills to increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes.
Our teams’ focus is centred at re-engaging our students to learn, remain eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and gain employment or further training outcomes upon student’s graduation from Year 12. Our program has expanded to include The BUSY School Online (TBSO) offering flexible access to our program for all students across Queensland.
About the position
The BUSY School’s Executive Principal is primarily responsible for overseeing and ensuring success in the operational and academic performance of The BUSY School’s network of campuses. The Executive Principal will work with the General Manager and other Heads of departments to identify best practices in these areas to deliver high quality student experiences and outcomes. They will ensure that the vision, mission, and values of the school are upheld while delivering on the strategic plan through campus-specific continuous improvements while supporting in the implementation of a program of continuous improvement across the whole school.
Reporting to the Director of The BUSY Schools, the Executive Principal will require a combination of academic, operational and people skills. They will inspire, lead, and manage The BUSY School’s teams at multiple campuses, currently in Cairns, Strathpine, Townsville, Shailer Park, Salisbury, Coolangatta, Brisbane City, Southport, Cleveland and Ipswich. They will continue the establishment of a consistent core to The BUSY School’s campuses, to maintain collaboration, sharing and consistency of services, while allowing for innovation and differences as appropriate to the needs of each local campus community. They will be a key driver of culture as the school continues to grow and evolve. This includes being an active member of the school community and playing a pivotal role in actively promoting the school in a positive light. They will actively engage with key stakeholders including, students, staff, industry, employers, other local schools, and referral agencies.
This position is permanent full time, with requirement to travel across The BUSY School campuses, including one day in the Southport office.
