Graduate Attendance Officer

Step Into Teaching

Location: School-based
Salary: £480–£510 per week (term time only)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week

About the role

Step Into Teaching is working with schools to recruit a Graduate Attendance Officer to support pupil engagement and attendance across the school community. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in education, pastoral support, or school administration.

You’ll play a key role in monitoring attendance, working closely with pupils, families, and school staff to help improve outcomes and remove barriers to learning.

Key responsibilities

• Monitoring daily pupil attendance and punctuality
• Following up on absences via phone calls, emails, and meetings
• Supporting pupils and families to improve attendance and engagement
• Maintaining accurate attendance records and reports
• Working closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and leadership teams
• Acting as a positive, professional presence within the school

About you

• A recent graduate (any degree considered)
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Confident, professional, and empathetic approach
• Interest in education, pastoral support, youth work, or teaching
• Reliable and able to work independently as well as part of a team
