A joint venture in maritime services is seeking a Project Manager (Waterfront) to oversee project delivery at HM Naval Base Portsmouth. The ideal candidate will have a civil or mechanical maritime background and track record of managing projects from scope to completion. Responsibilities include stakeholder engagement, schedule management, and ensuring effective site delivery. As an integral part of the Waterfront Integrated Delivery Team (IDT), you’ll be responsible for delivering allocated projects within the Waterfront programme, and form part of the wider project delivery function at Portsmouth Naval Base (PNB).
Reporting to the Waterfront Programme Manager, you’ll be tasked with the delivery of projects from scope to completion and handover. The projects will be either managed in smaller packages or traditionally delivered via a Main Contractor and of varying complexity and value.
With oversight of the overall project schedule, including the design schedule, you’ll positively interact with the client, users and the wider KBS team including (but not limited to) design management, SHE, commercial and supply chain. Additionally, you’ll ensure effective delivery of works on site, while maintaining communication and good working relationships with all disciplines and stakeholders which supports KBS Purpose Vision and Values.
A proven track record of delivering projects ideally with a civil/mechanical maritime bias and experience of full end-to-end delivery of the project life cycle. Coupled with this, you’ll have knowledge of statutory regulations, British Standards, JSPs and industry standards.
Schedule and risk management experience are prerequisites along with excellent organisational skills and proven, positive stakeholder management to ensure key projects are delivered successfully and efficiently.
Desirably, you’ll also have obtained a minimum of an ONC/OND in project management or relative subject or have a professional qualification in engineering or construction.
With a strong collaborative ability, you will have excellent decision and negotiation skills to positively impact your projects. By remaining flexible to an ever-changing environment, you will employ a customer centric ‘can do’ attitude within the team ensuring that the customer’s needs are met. You’ll have strong planning capability to firmly influence and drive your projects forward on time and on budget. Lastly, you will demonstrate excellent collaboration with various internal and external customers which will be critical for creating a team delivery ethos and ethic.
