Business - Technical Designer Summer Placement

Location: Birmingham

Start Date: 22nd June 2026 (10-week programme)

Salary: £24,500 Pro-rata

Security Clearance: Successful applicants may be required to undertake security clearance and have a right to work in the UK.

About this role

In this technical internship, you'll be part of a wider team that shapes how IT solutions are transformed to meet business challenges, ensuring we provide a world-class design and delivery experience to customers globally.

You will work with technical experts in their respective fields to develop understanding of network design, cloud architecture, contact centre and digital workplace solutions, and how these work for our customers.

Through deploying technical solutions, you can shape how our customers operate, provide services, and ultimately achieve their business objectives, supporting our purpose of using communication to connect for good.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Work with experienced Network & Voice designers.
• Collaborate with wider Unit members on customer solutions and designs.
• Support Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to AI & automation strategic direction.
• Engage in work‑based projects, network, LAN/WAN, voice, cloud design or implementation.

Entry Requirements

• On target for a 2.2 and in the penultimate year of a relevant STEM degree: Applied Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Networking, Computer Science, or Cyber Security.
• Right to work in the UK for the duration of the scheme.
• No sponsorship; candidates must have full UK Right to Work for the duration of the scheme.
• Ability to undergo security clearance and meet high‑security work requirements.
