Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience as an AQS or QS on significant construction projects.

  • RICS membership (or working towards) is a strong advantage.

Project Surveyor- London

Department: Commercial (Quantity Surveying)

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: London

Description

We’re seeking a driven and detail‑focused Project Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of high‑value, multi‑disciplinary major infrastructure and civils projects across London. You’ll play a key role in cost control, contract administration, stakeholder management, and commercial strategy — ensuring complex infrastructure works are delivered on time, on budget, and fully aligned with contractual requirements.

What you will be doing:
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth project progress and timely responses.
  • Manage cost reporting, CVRs, internal valuations, forecasting and monthly KPIs with accuracy and insight.
  • Maintain and control the change register, ensuring variations are captured, valued and submitted in line with contract requirements.
  • Lead subcontract procurement, prepare orders, assess applications, issue payment certificates and produce meeting minutes.
  • Ensure full contractual compliance across all commercial activities, supporting the PM with risk registers, early warnings and cause‑and‑effect schedules.
  • Identify commercial risks/opportunities and provide clear advice to the project team on budget impacts and mitigation.
  • Support day‑to‑day commercial administration, contract correspondence and reporting deadlines.
  • Mentor Assistant QSs, providing guidance, review and support where needed.
  • Collaborate with operations to integrate commercial processes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Work proactively to resolve issues early, forecast problems, and maintain a clear audit trail of project commercial performance.
What you will bring:
  • 5+ years’ experience as an AQS or QS on significant construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Degree‑qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC3 contracts and multi-disciplinary construction packages.
  • Highly proficient in commercial reporting, CVRs, contract communications and cost management.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and build strong relationships.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a proven record of meeting deadlines.
  • Strong IT literacy across core commercial and reporting tools.
  • RICS membership (or working towards) is a strong advantage.
