A charitable organization in Milton Keynes is looking for a Tractor and Machinery Trainee to help maintain parks and green spaces. This role includes an 18-month training program to gain hands-on experience and recognized qualifications in machinery and landscaping. Candidates should have a full driving license and an interest in machinery. The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package and values equality of opportunity in recruitment.
Established as an independent charity in 1992, The Parks Trust expertly cares for over 6,000 acres of green space in Milton Keynes including parks, ancient woodlands, lakes, river valleys and 80 miles of landscaped areas along the city’s grid roads.
In most towns and cities, parkland is owned by the local authority, but Milton Keynes’ founders created a charity separate from local government to protect parkland and landscapes forever. The Parks Trust was set up in 1992 with a 999-year lease on 4,500 acres and an endowment of property valued at £20m. Returns on investments fund the charity’s work today and in the future.
Over 100 staff and 240 volunteers deliver the essential work of The Parks Trust, including landscaping and maintenance, recreation and leisure facilities, and more than 500 outdoor events each year. The charity also promotes wildlife, biodiversity and the environment through public education.
As Milton Keynes grows, the charity takes on new green spaces and endowments from developers to cover costs in perpetuity, ensuring new areas benefit from high-quality, connected landscapes.
Apply for our Tractor and Machinery Trainee role to help maintain Milton Keynes’ parks and green spaces to a high standard.
