On our 12-month apprenticeship programme you will learn the skills to become a successful LGV Driver with a fantastic range of future career options ahead of you. You’ll work from one of our service centres where you will learn to:

• Work towards gaining your LGV licence within the first few months of your apprenticeship
• Drive safely and efficiently (SAFED) on public and private roads
• Proficiently control the vehicle
• Use relevant equipment and machinery safely and efficiently to ensure the safe handling of customer goods
• Comply with relevant systems, processes & maintain comprehensive records
• Prepare the vehicle and the load for deliveries
• Deliver and collect equipment from customer sites
• Effectively plan the most economical route to be used
• Use basic IT systems appropriately and in line with organisational requirements
• Understand how to comply with all safety guidelines, legislation, and regulations
• Develop in-depth product knowledge
• Build excellent working relationships with customers and understand their business needs and requirements
• Become an ambassador for our “Customer First” culture, resolving any issues quickly and keeping your colleagues and customers informed, so they feel truly valued
• Expand your team working skills with your colleagues and the wider Sunbelt Rentals team
• Manage multiple tasks and deadlines as part of a varied workday in a fast-paced operational environment

We’ll provide you with a comprehensive company induction, role-specific training and apprenticeship support. You will become a part of a larger apprentice cohort where you will be able to form lifelong relationships and engage in a wider support network.

We’ll also support your personal growth and development in line with your Sunbelt Rentals career aspirations. You will attend both in-house and manufacturer courses to expand your product knowledge and skills.

Apprenticeship Training

You will be completing a level 2 Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Driver C + E Apprenticeship Standard. This will be delivered using a combination of.

• Workplace experience to gain practical skills
• Guidance and training from an experienced workplace mentor
• Industry recognised training leading to an apprenticeship qualification and a LGV licence

About You

What you will need to bring to the role from day one:

• You must be 18 or over
• Have a full clean driving licence (Class B - Car Licence)
• Willingness to undertake an initial medical assessment required to gain the LGV licence
• A basic level of numeracy and literacy, ideally GCSE grade 3/D in Maths & English
