Job summary

A leading unmanned technology company in the United Kingdom is seeking a Lead Flight Test Engineer to oversee and coordinate flight test activities for military and civilian Uncrewed Aerial Systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerospace engineering, flight test planning, and safety management. Responsibilities include developing test plans, conducting risk assessments, and analyzing flight data. This position requires travel up to 25% and may involve early mornings or late nights to support flight trials.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in flight testing military and/or civilian UAS or equivalent aerospace systems.
  • Strong understanding of UAS system architecture and performance.
  • Familiarity with CAA UAS frameworks including CAP 722 and OSC development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed Trials/Test Plans to ensure compliance with military and civilian regulations.
  • Author Risk Assessments and Safety Statements for flight testing.
  • Lead real-time monitoring of telemetry and system health during tests.
