Job summary

A leading independent engineering firm is offering an exciting Level 3 Project Controls Technician apprenticeship in Barnsley. Apprentices will learn essential skills through a mix of college training and practical experience on major infrastructure projects. Candidates must have 3 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above and a desire to learn. This apprenticeship provides the chance to work alongside experienced professionals and develop industry-leading skills in project management. What you will be doing

We have exciting opportunities for enthusiastic people to join our Engineering Team. Here you can learn from the industry’s best, planning and tracking the schedule of work on major infrastructure projects.

Apprentice responsibilities
  • Train at one of the top performing colleges or training providers in the country
  • Learn about our award-winning approach to working safely
  • Work in our offices and visit construction sites
  • Be prepared for early starts and travel away from home when necessary
  • Develop great working relationships with some of the industry’s most talented people
  • Have a strong support network giving you the chance to build your confidence and use your initiative
What you will learn
  • Create and manage detailed plans and schedules for a variety of construction projects, using industry leading project management software
  • Collect and manage data in specialist planning and project management software to produce forecasts and completion plans
  • Produce project performance reports which measure progress against project targets and KPI’s
  • Attend and contribute to planning and progress meetings
  • Work across different departments in our Engineering division to get a clear understanding of the business

Apprenticeship details

You will attend college in Barnsley on block release to complete the Level 3 Project Controls Technician apprenticeship. In addition, you will regularly attend in-house training and development as part of the programme.

To apply you need

3 GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade C/4 or above in English Language, Maths and Science.

Eligibility

Please note, to be eligible for an apprenticeship you:

  • Must be able to complete the apprenticeship within the required time, including the End-Point Assessment.
  • Must have a valid and eligible residency status and the right to work in England.
  • Must be ordinarily resident in the UK or its territories for at least 3 years before starting the apprenticeship.
