What you can expect:

As a Senior Sustainability Specialist, you will deliver tailored sustainability advisory services to commercial clients, supporting them in meeting:

  • Regulatory due diligence obligations (e.g. UK Timber Regulation, EU Deforestation Regulation, EU Corporate Due Diligence Directive, Lacey Act, ILPA)
  • Supply chain risk management, traceability, and verification expectations

You will also play a key role in market development, partnerships, and client engagement, helping to grow Preferred by Nature’s presence and impact in the UK & Ireland.

Working with us is never routine so in the first year, you can expect the following areas to be central to your work.

  • Deliver sustainability advisory services, including policy development benchmarking, supply chain mapping, risk assessments, and bespoke verification programmes
  • Design and manage complex advisory projects, ensuring quality delivery, budget control, and high client satisfaction
  • Support sales and business development, including scoping client needs, preparing proposals and budgets, and contributing to regional sales goals
  • Actively contribute to market development and partnerships, representing Preferred by Nature at industry events and engaging key stakeholders
  • Track and analyse market trends, regulations, and emerging sustainability topics relevant to the UK & Ireland
Your first year with us:

Within three months, you will:

  • Complete onboarding and gain a strong understanding of Preferred by Nature’s mission, SER services, quality standards, and internal systems
  • Build relationships with key colleagues, partners, and priority stakeholders in the UK & Ireland
  • Begin contributing to advisory projects and sales activities through scoping, policy reviews, and client engagement support

Within six months, you will:

  • Independently manage and deliver sustainability advisory projects with high-quality outputs, on time and within budget
  • Lead client engagements, prepare proposals and budgets, and actively support regional sales targets
  • Increase Preferred by Nature’s market presence through participation in industry events and knowledge sharing

Within one year, you will:

  • Act as a trusted senior advisor for key clients, leading complex projects related to due diligence regulations, sustainability systems, and supply chain risk management
  • Play a leading role in regional market development, partnerships, and identification of new service opportunities
  • Represent Preferred by Nature through thought leadership, speaking engagements, and contributions to service and methodology development
Important that you:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental management, forestry, agriculture, natural resource management, business, law, or related fields
  • At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in sustainability, ESG, supply chain due diligence, forestry, agriculture, or advisory
  • Strong knowledge of deforestation, legality, and sustainability regulations
  • Proven experience in project management, client engagement, and delivery of advisory services
  • Experience in market development, partnerships, or sales support
  • Strong written and spoken English, with excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and engage diplomatically with diverse stakeholders
Would also be great, but not necessary, if you:
  • Having experience working in an NGO
  • EUDR knowledge

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
