Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for a Children’s/Adult Nurse or Learning Disabilities Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team of Special School Nurses in Scarborough. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience caring for children with complex health needs and SEND, and will work with health and educational staff within the primary and secondary special schools in Scarborough and Ryedale玩法.

Successful applicants will collaborate with the wider multi‑disciplinary team, including the Children's Community Nursing Team, therapists and consultants, to ensure excellent communication and high‑quality care across four special schools, with occasional home visits and ward visits. A car drive is essential.

The role involves working over four days, Monday to Friday, including school holidays.

Interviews for this position will be held in person only at Scarborough Hospital. Remote interviews will not be available. The validity of NMC PIN will be checked before shortlisting; inaccuracies in NMC PIN details will mean your application will not be progressed.

  • Maintain a high standard of patient‑focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Trust policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate records are kept.
  • Contribute fully to the EHCP process.
  • Ensure that national and Trust guidelines, especially concerning child protection, are adhered to.
  • Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they sentenced information.
  • Work independently in various community settings, including home and school.
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in patient care.
  • Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct.
