Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive, client focused Building Surveyor to join our growing team on a remote basis. You will work independently day to day, undertaking a diverse workload including condition surveys, defect diagnosis, dilapidations, contract administration, Licence to Alter (LTA) reviews, Party Wall matters, and Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) programmes. Although the role is remote, you will carry out site inspections nationwide and attend our Wickford office once per month.
The role combines remote working with nationwide site inspections and monthly in‑person meetings at our Wickford office. Typical weekly travel varies but may include 2-3 site days depending on workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct building surveys, defect investigations and produce high quality technical reports.
- Prepare and manage schedules of dilapidations for both landlord and tenant clients.
- Undertake contract administration and manage construction projects under JCT contracts.
- Review, prepare and advise on Licence to Alter (LTA) applications.
- Act as surveyor under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996.
- Produce detailed, accurate Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) reports.
- Communicate clearly with clients, contractors and stakeholders throughout each project.
- Manage multiple live instructions simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, strong technical accuracy and compliance with internal quality assurance standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Building Surveying or a related property/construction discipline.
- MRICS preferred, but we are very happy to consider APC candidates who are close to completion or who can demonstrate robust practical experience.
- Proven experience in defect diagnosis, dilapidations, LTA’s, Party Wall, Contract Administration and PPMs.
- Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations, CDM Regulations & JCT Contracts.
- Excellent written communication, report writing and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel.
