Job description
Clinical Lead ACP – Shakespeare Walk-in Centre

Are you an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) with a passion for delivering exceptional care and an interest in leadership? Do you thrive in a role where you can influence service quality, mentor clinical teams, and drive continuous improvement?
If so, we’d love to hear from you.

With a strong clinical background in urgent and/or emergency care, the Clinical Lead ACP will play a pivotal role in delivering compassionate, high-quality, patient-centred care while helping shape a service built on excellence, safety, and continuous growth. Working alongside a supportive Operations Manager and senior clinical leaders, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients, colleagues, and the future of urgent care.

This is a dynamic role that blends hands‑on clinical practice (75%) with strategic leadership and service development (25%). You will guide and empower clinicians, champion best practice, and ensure the service remains compliant, innovative, and ready to exceed expectations.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Deliver outstanding clinical care through direct patient consultations and expert decision‑making.
  • Lead by example, supporting and supervising clinicians to uphold high standards and improving confidence across the team.
  • Drive service excellence, working closely with the Operations Manager on vision, strategy, quality performance, and compliance.
  • Strengthen governance and quality through audits, incident review, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and inspire the team, supporting recruitment, appraisals, clinical training, and staff development.
  • Champion CQC readiness, ensuring the service operates safely and effectively in line with regulatory standards.
  • Influence wider system transformation, working with commissioners, the ICB, and external partners to shape future models of urgent and emergency care.
What we are looking for?
Essential:
  • NMC registration with no restrictions
  • MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice
  • Independent/Non‑Medical Prescribing qualification
  • Advanced physical assessment & consultation skills (Level 7)
  • At least 1 year experience as an ACP following the completion of the MSc studies in Advanced Practice
  • Experience in managing minor illness
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent clinical governance, CQC and regulatory knowledge
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care
Desirable:
  • Level 7 paediatric training
  • Minor injury qualification
  • Experience in triage/streaming in urgent care
  • Teaching, mentoring, or clinical supervision skills

Note: Right to work in the UK: Please note that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must therefore already have the right to live and work in the UK at the time of application.
