Role summary

Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have a critical role in Enable by making a positive difference in the lives of the people we support. You will help someone with a learning disability to achieve their goals and outcomes, and every day may bring different tasks and opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with various support needs, including personal care, moving and handling, and positive behavioural support.
• Support daily living activities and help expand social networks and connections.
• Work as part of a bespoke team to ensure safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support.
• Follow person-centred plans to provide dedicated support that helps individuals reach their goals.
• Medication administration, meal preparation and other daily life tasks as required.
• Support individuals with interests and activities aligned to their preferences.

Supported individuals

The job includes working with people with diverse needs. For example:

• Neil, who uses a personal communication style and enjoys activities in and out of the home; Neil requires support with daily living tasks and medication when appropriate.
• James, who communicates non-verbally and benefits from staff who can read facial expressions, support during transitions, and engagement in activities he enjoys. Training will be provided.
• Mary, who enjoys time in the garden and social activities; Mary requires support with medication, personal care, and meal preparation.

Qualifications and requirements
