Disability Services Accommodations Specialist
Reporting To
Associate Director of Disability Services
Essential Functions
- Provide support to students with disabilities, including advising on available accommodations, outlining rights and responsibilities, and guiding them through the accommodation request process.
- Conduct independent intake meetings, review documentation, and assist the Associate Director in providing accommodations in compliance with ADA regulations.
- Maintain and update accurate and confidential records of accommodations, ensuring compliance with University policies and legal regulations.
- Collaborate with faculty to implement approved accommodations.
- Conduct individual training sessions for students and faculty.
- Serve as a liaison between students and deans for foreign language substitutions and other academic matters.
- Represent the director, associate director, or assistant director in meetings and workshops.
Management Responsibilities
- Guide work of other employees who perform essentially the same work and/or student workers.
- Organize, set priorities, schedule and review work, but is generally not responsible for final decisions in hiring, performance management, or compensation.
Additional Functions
- Assist with administrative office tasks.
- Represent ODS at events as needed.
- Proctor exams as necessary.
- Assist with office reports and presentations.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, psychology, disability studies, or a related field.
- Minimum two years’ experience in a higher educational setting.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills for facilitating interactions between students, faculty, and staff.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to work as a team player, as well as independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Commitment to serving a diverse student population.
- Possess an understanding of the mission of Jesuit education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Experience in disability services, student affairs, or a related field within higher education.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws related to disability accommodations in higher education (e.g., ADA, Section 504).
Salary
- Minimum Starting Salary: $66,555
- Maximum Starting Salary: $67,000
