Job description

Lead with purpose. Make a difference in communities.

Karibu Community Homes was created in April 2024 through the merger of Inquilab and Westway Housing Associations, becoming the UK’s largest Black and Minority Ethnic‑led housing provider. Karibu means “Welcome” in Swahili – a name that reflects our commitment to inclusivity, belonging, and community.

Today, we manage over 1,900 homes across London and the South East, serving thousands of residents with one clear mission: to provide safe, sustainable homes and deliver services people trust and value.

We are seeking a Director of Asset and Development to join our Executive Management Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a customer‑focused leader who can think strategically and deliver results that matter to the communities we serve. The role centres on asset management, ensuring our homes are safe, well‑maintained, and future‑ready, while also supporting our ambitions for growth.

As Director, you will lead the implementation of our Asset Management Strategy, driving planned investment, maintenance, and compliance programmes that deliver value for money and meet the highest standards of safety and quality. You will champion excellent customer service, ensuring repairs and maintenance are delivered efficiently and with care. You will advise the Board and Chief Executive on asset performance, sustainability, and opportunities for reinvestment, while playing a visible leadership role across the organisation. Collaboration will be key, as you work closely with colleagues, engage with stakeholders, and connect with the communities we serve. Alongside your asset management responsibilities, you will help shape development activity, creating new homes through infill sites and partnerships.

We are looking for someone with proven experience in asset management within housing or property sectors, combined with strong commercial acumen and a commitment to customer service. You will be confident working at a strategic level, managing budgets and resources effectively, and influencing at all levels. Development experience is desirable but not essential; what matters most is your ability to lead with integrity and align with our values.

At Karibu, our values guide everything we do: Service – putting customers first; Trust – acting with honesty; Accountability – owning outcomes; Respect – treating everyone fairly; and Strength – showing ambition and resilience. If these values resonate with you, we would love to hear from you.

Join us and help shape a future where every home is safe, sustainable, and supports thriving communities.

Apply today and lead the way in creating homes and services that matter.
