About the Developing Projects Engineer Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Developing Projects Engineer to join our Brownfield Modifications team, based in Great Yarmouth.

This role supports the safe and effective delivery of engineering projects across their full lifecycle, from concept and definition through execution and close‑out. Working under the guidance of Senior or Lead Project Engineers and Project Managers, the role is designed to build practical project engineering skills, technical competence and commercial awareness, progressing toward a fully autonomous Project Engineer role.

Key responsibilities include
  • Supporting delivery of assigned project work packages under guidance from senior engineers
  • Assisting with preparation and review of engineering deliverables, including drawings, reports and scopes of work
  • Interfacing with internal engineering disciplines, contractors and vendors
  • Supporting technical queries, clarifications and document reviews
Project Controls & Governance
  • Assisting with schedule updates, cost tracking and progress reporting
  • Supporting identification and management of project risks, including maintenance of risk registers and mitigation actions
  • Contributing to Management of Change (MOC) processes where applicable
  • Ensuring engineering and project activities comply with company procedures, standards and governance requirements
Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Promoting and complying with company HSE policies and safe systems of work
  • Participating in HAZID, HAZOP and design reviews as appropriate
  • Supporting assurance that work is delivered in line with regulatory, safety and quality requirements
  • Capturing lessons learned and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Actively seeking feedback and coaching to develop technical and project delivery skills
Skills, Experience and qualities we are looking for
  • NVQ or BTEC Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject (Engineering, Project Management) or equivalent
  • Basic engineering design and problem‑solving capability
  • Understanding of project execution processes and typical engineering deliverables
  • Ability to interpret standards, specifications and engineering drawings
  • Awareness of project risk management and change control principles
  • Developing commercial and contractual awareness
  • Strong IT literacy, particularly Microsoft Office applications
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
  • Clear and accurate reporting of progress, risks and issues
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within multi‑discipline teams
