Job summary

Job description

Salary: Scale 4 Pt 7-8 (£22,635.48 – £22,996.41) actual salary per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
Hours: 37 hours per week term time only (39 weeks per year)
Start Date: As soon as possible
This is a full-time position, but candidates interested in part-time hours would also be considered.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and efficient Design and Technology Technician to provide comprehensive technician support service to staff and students undertaking the Design and Technology curriculum.

The Design Technology Department at King Edward VI Grammar School (KEGS) comprises 4 teachers and 1 technician. The team are friendly and hardworking and are looking forward to welcoming an enthusiastic new colleague to join them.

The postholder will be required to complete mandatory Health and Safety checks, use wood and metal working machinery, prepare materials for use by the students in advance of lessons, support students and teaching staff during lesson delivery, take responsibility for the maintenance and inventory of tools and materials and ensure the learning environment is clean and tidy throughout the day.The successful applicant will have good organisational, planning and time management skills. Previous experience in wood working (circular saw, bandsaw, planer thicknesser) and metal working (casting, centre lathe, bench top mill) is essential.
