Data Centre Mobile Patrol Officer

Location: Hemel Hempstead

Salary: £13.50 per hour

Job Type: Full Time

Hours: 12 hour shifts encompassing both day and night shift, 4 on 4 off shift pattern

About the Role

We are seeking a highly reliable and tech‑savvy Security Officer to join our team at a secure data centre facility. This role requires vigilance, professionalism, and a strong understanding of security technology, access control, and incident response.

As a Mobile Security Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring critical security systems, ensuring controlled access, and responding swiftly to incidents to maintain the highest levels of security and data integrity.

You will respond to changing risk levels, conduct site patrols and welfare visits across a number of data centres within the area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Access Control & Surveillance
    • Operate and monitor CCTV, Lenel access systems, and perimeter intrusion detection systems.
    • Conduct ID and credential checks for all staff, contractors, and visitors.
    • Enforce strict security protocols to prevent unauthorised access.
  • Incident Response & Risk Management
    • Respond swiftly to security alarms, breaches, or incidents.
    • Complete detailed incident reports and elevate as necessary.
    • Liaise with emergency services and internal security teams during incidents.
  • Patrolling & Security Monitoring
    • Perform regular security patrols within the facility and perimeter.
    • Identify vulnerabilities or potential risks and report security threats.
    • Conduct security sweeps in high‑risk areas and restricted zones.
  • Technology & Systems Management
    • Operate digital security occurrence books and maintain up‑to‑date records.
    • Troubleshoot and report malfunctions in security systems.
    • Work closely with the client and security teams to ensure physical security alignment.
  • Compliance & Professional Conduct
    • Ensure compliance with data centre security policies and procedures.
    • Handle confidential information with the highest level of discretion.
    • Maintain a professional presence and act as a point of contact for security matters.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in security, or a high‑security environment.
  • Strong understanding of CCTV monitoring, access control, and security alarm systems.
  • Excellent situational awareness, attention to detail, and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in high‑pressure situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for incident reporting.
  • Basic technical troubleshooting skills for security systems and equipment.
  • Knowledge of data centre security best practices (desirable).
Qualifications
  • SIA Licence (Guarding/Door Supervisor).
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Full clean driving licence essential.
Desirable but Not Essential
  • Experience working in a control room environment.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity and IT security protocols.
