Job description

The Mount Abraham Unified School District is seeking dedicated and reliable School Custodians to join our Facilities team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We have full and part‑time openings as well as on call. The work schedule is Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas according to established schedules and standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, and minor repairs.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax floors as needed.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal of waste.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishments as necessary.
  • Assist with set‑up and teardown of furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
  • Respond promptly to emergency cleaning needs.
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the Director of Facilities and Grounds.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and protocols.
  • May be requested to work overtime, another shift or location.

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods. May involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures.

Salary Range

$22.46 – $26.95
