Job description
Content Writer (Technical - Company Secretarial, Company Formation, and Compliance)

As a Freelance Content Writer at 1st Formations, you will create and optimize long‑form, SEO‑friendly blog content that helps aspiring entrepreneurs understand the company formation journey and compliance obligations. Our goal is to simplify complex regulatory topics and provide actionable guidance through clear, audience‑first writing.

What You’ll Do
  • Research, write, and deliver high‑quality long‑form blog posts—from topic ideation to final edits—to explain key business concepts and demystify the company formation process.
  • Refresh and optimize existing articles for SEO performance, accuracy, structure, and tone, following guidance from our SEO Content Specialist.
  • Apply on‑page SEO best practices, including keyword targeting, internal linking, heading structure, and content formatting.
  • Use generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Jasper) to assist ideation and drafting while applying strong editorial judgment to ensure trustworthiness and human‑led voice.
  • Stay current on organic search, content marketing, and SEO trends, adapting strategies as best practices evolve.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with the Content and SEO teams via Microsoft Teams and Trello.
  • Produce articles that are readable, shareable, and easily scannable for search discoverability.
About the Content You’ll Create

Your focus will be on company formation, UK company law, company secretarial processes, and ongoing compliance obligations. A background in technical, regulatory, or legal writing is preferred.

Each piece should:

  • Be audience‑first: answer real founder questions with empathy and authority.
  • Remain transparent: simplify complex processes without overselling.
  • Be responsible: encourage ethical and sustainable entrepreneurship.
  • Empower founders with confidence and practical tools.
Qualifications & Skills
  • 2–5 years of writing professional content, ideally in B2B, legal, financial services, or related sectors.
  • Familiarity with UK company structures, Companies House, and SME compliance.
  • Ability to translate technical legal language into clear, founder‑friendly insights.
  • Strong long‑form writing skills and a portfolio demonstrating clarity, depth, and SEO fluency.
  • Proficiency in on‑page SEO: keyword implementation, structured content, and technical accuracy.
  • Experience incorporating and refining AI‑generated content, using it as a co‑pilot rather than a replacement.
  • Proactive, independent work style; organized, self‑motivated, and comfortable in a remote, asynchronous environment.
  • Excellent written English with impeccable grammar, tone, storytelling, and formatting.
Availability & Expectations
  • Available for collaboration on at least 4 working days per week, with agreed‑upon responsiveness.
  • Approximate 15–18 hours per week of work.
  • Produce an average of 2–3 long‑form articles per week (1,000–2,000+ words each).
  • Update and optimize existing content with SEO improvements and clearer messaging.
