Job description

This 5PA Consultant Psychiatrist post is based within the Winchester Memory Assessment Service (MAS), part of the Older Persons' Mental Health pathway in Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The role focuses on delivering specialist diagnostic assessments, clinical reviews, and formulation for patients with suspected cognitive disorders, working closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team. The post holder will provide clinical leadership within MAS, contribute to MDT meetings, offer expert advice to clinicians, and review neuroimaging and cognitive assessments. Cross cover for Consultant colleagues in the Winchester and Andover OPMH Community Mental Health Teams is required during periods of absence.

The job includes 3.5 Direct Clinical Care PAs and 1.5 Supporting Professional Activities, covering CPD, appraisal, governance, and teaching. Opportunities exist for involvement in research, quality improvement, and medical education. The Trust provides strong professional support, including mentoring, induction, wellbeing services, and administrative resources. Section 12 and AC approval are essential or must be obtainable.
