A personal support service in Chippenham seeks a companion to provide friendship and emotional support for a young male with ongoing mental health needs. The role involves engaging in social activities, being patient, and demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills. Ideal candidates should be friendly, responsible, and willing to build a trusting relationship. This position offers 14 hours of work weekly, primarily in the afternoons, requiring the right to work in the UK. Potential for employed or self-employed agreements based on suitability.
14 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, Friday afternoons preferred but willing to discuss)
I’m a 27-year-old male living independently in my own flat, managing my own cooking and housework. I enjoy reading, gaming, and socialising in local bars and cafés. While I’m not really into sport, I like using my exercise bike at home. I’m a non-smoker and non-drinker, and I value having someone friendly to spend time with and share activities.
I’m looking for someone to provide companionship and support for my ongoing mental health, offering friendship and helping me stay calm in stressful situations. I don’t need help with housework, so this role is all about being a supportive, engaging presence — someone to socialise with, join me at the gym or swimming, or introduce me to new activities where I can meet others my age.
The ideal person will be friendly, approachable, responsible, and reliable, with strong communication and social skills. You should respect my confidentiality and privacy, be sensitive to my needs, and remain calm in challenging situations. Most importantly, you’ll be willing to take the time to get to know me properly and become a trusted companion.
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
