A family employer in Horsham seeks a compassionate Companion/Carer for daily visits to support a 92-year-old woman in maintaining her independence. Responsibilities include companionship, medication support, and light housekeeping. Candidates should have a kind demeanor and a proactive attitude, with a preference for non-smokers and those who can drive. This role offers an employed status with a competitive hourly rate of £24.
Morning and early evening visit each day, seven days a week. Mum is 92 and in good health. Mobility aids such as a stair-lift mean that she can still enjoy her home in Horsham. She looks after herself, but is in increasing need of regular visits to do the basics - or assist with the basics. At the moment this does not mean intimate care: the duties of the role are checking medication, assistance with a shower, and the kind of checks that put her mind at rest. We need someone proactive who will see what needs doing: tidying, checking bedroom, etc. We’re looking for someone friendly, in the hope a friendship will develop. This is not a job for someone under terrible time pressure who can’t arrive, relax, and take an interest. Previous experience preferred but this is not essential; a kind and common-sense approach is the main priority to this role.
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Bar ing Service check if required.
If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
