Job Purpose

To provide specialist support, advice and guidance to individuals, families and carers; to assist with specialist assessments, support within PBS framework, participate in multidisciplinary meetings, contribute to service development and manage an individual caseload. Further duties include keeping up to date with research and development, attending training, maintaining NMC registration, completing risk assessments, communicating with agencies, supervising student nurses and contributing to team and service development.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist support, advice and guidance to individuals, families and carers.
  • Assist as part of the multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Complete specialist assessments as clinically indicated.
  • Participate in PBS training and offer support within the PBS framework.
  • Participate in referral meetings, team meetings and wider MDT meetings.
  • Contribute to team and service development.
  • Carry an individual caseload.
  • Keep up to date with research and development in the field.
  • Attend relevant training.
  • Maintain NMC registration.
  • Complete individual risk assessments under supervision and put a safety plan in place if needed.
  • Communicate with social workers, care providers and other agencies.
  • Supervise and assess student nurses on placement with the team.
Person Specification
Essential
  • RNLD (Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities).
  • Experience of supporting individuals with learning disabilities with healthcare needs.
Desirable
  • Additional post‑graduation qualification.
  • Experience of community learning disabilities nursing.
