PLEASE NOTE FULL UK DRIVING LICENCE AND USE OF VEHICLE ARE ESSENTIAL.

We are looking to recruit energetic, enthusiastic and reliable individuals to work with a team of healthcare assistants visiting patients at home to prepare and set up the patients peritoneal dialysis machine or to set up manual peritoneal dialysis. Patients receive at least one visit per day from one of the team, including at weekends and in the evenings. The working pattern includes regular weekend work and late shifts. Shifts are between 8 am and 10 pm on a rota basis.

This is a busy but rewarding service, and the applicant needs to be a reliable individual.

Full training will be given to the successful candidates but renal experience is desirable.

It is essential that you have a full clean driving license and have access to a reliable car.

Main duties of the job

We are a team of nurses caring for patients undergoing dialysis treatment at home. We teach patients how to do their own dialysis at home and then monitor and support the patient and their family at home.

Key points are:

  • To visit patients in their homes and prepare their automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) machine
  • Visit patients at home, at night, and commence their dialysis treatment when required
  • Visit patients in the morning to disconnect them from their dialysis machine
  • Carry out peritoneal dialysis fluid changes in the patients home when required
  • Monitor patients stock of dialysis equipment, carrying out stock counts when requested
  • Changing patient dressings to their dialysis tube
  • To work in the Home Therapies Unit assisting the qualified nurses
  • To work as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team
  • Following appropriate training and assessment, undertake clinical and non-clinical duties in support of the registered nurses in the Home Therapies Unit
  • When required, to help on the Home Therapies Unit supporting clinics and daycase patients

If you are aged 16 or 17 and applying for a role that is more than 20 hours a week, please be aware that you will be asked to commence an Apprenticeship within the Trust alongside your role, as long as there is a suitable apprenticeship standard available. Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

  • Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post may be subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£49.50 for enhanced and £21.50 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
