Job description

Onerway is a UK-regulated Electronic Money Institution providing card acquiring and payment services to corporate and e‑commerce merchants. We are entering a new growth phase and are hiring a Commercial Director to lead our commercial strategy and revenue delivery.

The Role

You will own the commercial P&L for Onerway’s acquiring business and lead all revenue‑generating activity: sales, partnerships and key account management. You will sit on the senior leadership team, working closely with the CEO, MLRO, Compliance, Risk and Product to grow the business within our regulatory and risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and deliver Onerway’s commercial strategy and annual revenue plan.
  • Own pricing, margin and commercial performance across products and segments.
  • Lead and develop sales, partnerships and account management teams.
  • Approve and oversee major merchant and partner deals (ISOs, PSPs, platforms).
  • Support negotiation of key contracts with merchants, partners, banks and schemes.
  • Work with Product and Tech on commercially sound roadmap and go‑to‑market plans.
  • Ensure commercial activity complies with UK EMI regulations, AML/CTF and sanctions rules.
  • Report regularly on pipeline, revenue, margin and portfolio quality to the CEO and Board.
About You
  • 5–8 years in payments / FinTech / financial services, including senior commercial leadership.
  • Strong track record in card acquiring / PSP / merchant services, ideally in an EMI or acquirer.
  • Proven experience owning a P&L and delivering revenue and margin growth.
  • Deep understanding of acquiring economics (interchange, scheme fees, chargebacks, fraud) and EMI / payments regulation (EMRs, PSD2/PSR, AML/CTF).
  • Experienced people leader, able to build and scale high‑performing commercial teams.
  • Comfortable operating between UK and Chinese stakeholders and time zones.
  • Fluent Mandarin (spoken and written) is essential; strong English communication skills required.
